Women's Ministry

Vessels of Honor

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. 2 Corinthians 4:7

The Women’s Ministry at Calvary Chapel of Kearny desires to be a support to women in their relationship with the Lord. Through an array of activities which include Bible studies, retreats, spring tea, and an annual Christmas brunch, we seek to edify and encourage one another as we become women who will glorify the Lord.

Whether reading and discussing books, classic and contemporary, Christian literature, or doing an in-depth study of a book of the Bible – our time together deepens our understanding of who Jesus is,  makes clear what our relationship to Him means, and reveals what the Lord desires to accomplish both in, and through, our lives.

In the past we have read and discussed homework for books such as Pilgrim’s Progress, Calvary Road, and Under His Influence.  We have also dug deeply into the books of 1 John, Colossians, and Mark.  These varied lessons have impacted different areas of our relationship, and enhanced our walk with Jesus Christ in these busy and troubled times.

The women’s study is currently in recess, please contact the church office at 201-998-7444, 201-998-2044, or contact Carmen Solis via email at casasolis@gmail.com.

carmen solis

I gave my life to the Lord in August of 1990.  My marriage was experiencing a trying storm and a co-worker suggested I speak to her pastor.  After realizing I was responsible for my life I decided to ‘try Jesus.’  A transformation occurred.  The Lord brought the peace and comfort that yoga, meditation and other practices could not produce.   God has given me the privilege of being involved in women’s lives in one on one ministry, as well as leading them to a deeper knowledge of the scriptures through in-depth bible studies.

Vessels of Honor

The Lord has always placed godly women in my life; ones who have blessed me with their example, encouragement, and guidance when I have needed it.  My life has been enriched by these women and my goal, as the Vessels of Honor overseer, is to provide an environment where women will be taught God’s word and motivated to exercise their God given gifts and make a difference in their homes, neighborhood, and church family.
My sources of unending comfort are Isaiah 40:31 and Habakkuk 3:17, 18.  It is my desire that women would come to know the blessings of fulfilling their roles as wives, mother and homemakers.  To these precious ladies I dedicate 2 Corinthians 4:7 ~ But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

related ministries

“Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality”. Romans 12:13

An integral component of the ministry here at Calvary Chapel Kearny is hospitality. It is our desire that through various means we reach others with God’s love, not only those within the church but also the community. Our services to others include preparing and delivering meals, assistance with household tasks.  In relation to church activities, we can assist in the preparation of the sanctuary, and/or Fellowship Hall for weddings, women’s events, guest speakers.

For more information, please contact Carmen Solis at casasolis@gmail.com.

Women to Women (W2W)

As an integral part of Vessels of Honor, W2W seeks to be of assistance to the church body by providing meals to convalescing women, and their families, encourage those in hospitals; and assist in other areas according to the family’s needs.

If interested in assisting, please contact Carmen Solis at casasolis@gmail.com.
